alissajane: I’ve always felt that the sport of rowing is strangely indicative of day to day life. Even more so than other sports. The way you’re seemingly backwards but in reality you are flying forward. There are no breaks, you can’t slow down, take a breather, or even see the end. You just have to have faith that the people guiding you, motivating you, and helping you (coxn shout out!) are steering you in the right direction. Sometimes it feels like you have nothing left. All you can think about is the pain. But you take comfort in the fact that you are not alone. People you love are pulling for you and you for them. Instead of stopping, quitting, giving up, you find strength and work harder with a purpose. It sure as hell isn’t easy. It is definitely not always fun. Sometimes it hurts more than anything in the world…but you never stop caring. Never stop trying. And you love every second of it.
